Glowing Model Look

Introduction:

This shoot took place on 17/03/2020 @ The Manchester College, Fielden Campus Didsbury. This shoot took approx 1 hour to complete.

Research and Inspiration:

My inspiration for this look was a natural glowy model type of look that is popular in today’s industry. I loved the exposed hair clips on the front of the hair too that is seen a lot on models at fashion shows, I wanted this to be a part of my look. I put together a mood board on Pinterest of looks that inspired me for this shoot. https://www.pinterest.co.uk/carlasykes1/model-look/. I was drawn to this style of make-up and hair as it is simple but really effective, when I came across the images on Pinterest I was inspired by the use of the clips in the hair and I loved the look it gave, it gave an editorial feel which I wanted to incorporate into my design to keep up the style that I like to do. Runway style hair and make-up is something that I love creating on models as this is a career path I would like to do down, it shows my creative side and it gives a sleek clean look.

I enjoy using Pinterest to research and create digital mood boards for a change instead of creating physical ones, my inspiration boards that I create are easily accessible and I can be constantly be adding to it when a new idea springs to mind.

How the shoot will benefit my portfolio:

I believe this particular shoot will benefit and really add to my portfolio as it is very up to date with current trends and looks in the make-up industry, I feel like employers will like this look as it showcases a natural make-up look that I can achieve on potential clients. This will also benefit my portfolio as I was lacking natural make-up looks in there, a lot of my portfolio consists of editorial, avant garde looks that include colour, so I feel like I needed a look like this in there to showcase other skills that I can include, it was important for me to demonstrate this in my portfolio.

How it went on the day and did I overcome any obstacles:

This was one of my favourite shoots I did out of them all, the make-up application and hair styling went really smoothly and well, I was confident with how the final images where going to turn out. I hadn’t concentrated on the hair as much on previous shoots but I had ideas planned out for what I wanted to do with my models hair for this particular shoot, my models hair was perfect for the look I wanted to do also.

Evaluation:

To conclude, I am really pleased with how this shoot turned out and it adds another element to my portfolio that it was lacking before, I am confident with future employers looking at this particular piece of work as I really enjoyed creating it and shooting it myself.
